Welcome to PowerBase *.* Volume IV!
-----------------------------------
To open the PowerBase Desktop and begin exploring
immediately, make your floppy the current drive
and type POWER4 at the DOS prompt. The help file
(accessible with the F1 key when you're running
the PowerBase Desktop) has more hints to help you
make the most of PowerBase *.* Volume IV. To find
out how to run Uno, look at the first tip on the
"Misc" menu in the PowerBase Desktop.
Copying Powerbase To Your Hard Drive
If you wish to have the tips on the PowerBase *.*
Volume IV diskette at your fingertips at all
times, you can copy the entire disk to your hard
drive by following these instructions. First,
enter the command
MD C:\POWER4
at the DOS prompt to make a directory for the
files on your hard drive. (If you'd rather use a
different name, that's fine.) Then, enter
XCOPY A:\*.* C:\POWER4 /s
to copy the contents of the PowerBase disk onto
your hard drive. (If you've chosen to install into
a directory other than C:\POWER4, remember to
change the destination in this command as well.)
The XCOPY command will copy not only the PowerBase
Desktop and the tips, but also the samples, the
utilities, the macros, and the bonus ShareWare
game, Uno. But don't worry about overflowing your
hard drive; the full year's worth of tips and
goodies have been squeezed into less than 300K
of file space.
Finally, if you've put PowerBase on your hard
drive, you'll probably want to add the directory
C:\POWER4 (or whatever you've named it) to the
PATH statement in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file for fast
access. Otherwise, you'll need to be in your
PowerBase directory to run the PowerBase Desktop
or Uno.
Enjoy!
